Casey Cup Winners- Women's Tournament

Winners are Grinners - The Women's section "A" team took out the annual Casey Cup on Sunday 24th February. A tight finish saw the game go to Penalty Stokes. Well done - good start to the year. Two teams from Frankston took part tis year as part of their pre-season training - well done.

Triathlon Marshalling -  fundraising event. Sunday 2nd March - Very early this morning a  bunch of true club supporter clawed their way out of bed to help the club by acting as marshals at a Triathlon event.  For their efforts the club will receive $45 for every one of them.

This is the second event this year that we have marshalled for and will receive in total over a $1000 for the efforts of those who attended. Special thanks to Kate Sanderson who no only spotted to opportunity but did something about it.

The club would like to thank all of those who took part.

Bunning's BBQ. - Fundraising

Yes folks we're calling for volunteers again. This time to cook and sell sausages at Bunning's.

Coops (sometimes know as Graeme Cooper) will be calling on you to give  ahead for an hour or so to help out - this is an event that can raise us big dollars in one day.

Say "Yes please!" when asked.

Help Needed for Junior Convener

We need some volunteers to help in two area's of junior recruitment specifically;

1. Some people with word processing skills  - this can be shared between two or more people

o       take the names and address we have of the 30 or so local schools and convert it into a database (a simple excel spreadsheet would be great) so that it can be used for mail merge.

o       Take a draft of the letter we have to schools and create the merge file

o       Alter the poster/flyers we had from last year

o       Print out the letters and flyers or get them to someone who can print them.

o       Get them ready and post them out.

o       Prepare a list for follow up with emails or phone calls

If you can help please let me know by return email

2.  We also need some people willing once or twice a year to contact schools.

Get in to speak with the Sport Teacher or Principal  to get the school to put up a flyer, distribute a flyer with their newsletter or put a simple ad in their newsletter which can bring us good results.

A personal touch works far better than email or a letter.

If you can help us by handling even just one school please let me know. If you can handle two or more even better.

Our initial focus here is on the primary schools as that is where we need to be to recruit the lower age groups - our entry point. If your child goes to a school and you'd like to help let us know.

In order to build up our club we need a drive to recruit juniors in large numbers. Firstly we want to ensure at least two teams at each age level - 3 at under 9's. Into the future we can build to 3 or more and include girls only teams - when we have the numbers.

We have opportunities to utilise the resources of Hockey Victoria who can help organise Rookey and Hook in2 Hockey programs that are proven paths to recruiting juniors. But again success depends on communication with schools.

Help us to build the club and the future for your children's sport in Frankston.
